Last weekend I joined 40 or so Sydney food bloggers at KIN by us to sample new dishes by the lovely Uel and Shannelle of My Kitchen Rules fame.
There were lots of great dishes served on the day from both the current and new menus! Here’s a few of my favourites …
Chew Bak Kwa. Corn fritter waffle, bak kwa bacon, avocado puree and cherry tomatoes. This was my favourite dish of the day! I’m a huge corn fritter fan and guaranteed to order it if it’s on the menu. My eyes lit up when this dish was served. A corn fritter waffle!! Repeat, corn fritter waffle! With a side of bacon! And not just regular bacon…bak kwa bacon! A little salty, a little sweet and oh-so-tender!
Ayam Legend was my second favourite dish tasted on the day. It’s Indonesian grilled chicken, fried egg, slaw, and peanut dressing on a brioche bun. The chicken is the winner here. So full of flavour!
Now what’s a meal without a fancy beverage…and there is definitely no shortage at KIN by us. Our table ordered a few different shakes. Milo Mocha Dinosaur, Black Sesame Shake, Golden Gaytime Shake and O-Marma. Just a few options on the very extensive drinks menu.
Now to the sweet stuff. The gorgeous mango pudding is new! It’s served with yoghurt, granola and cornflakes. Dessert or breakfast plate? I’m not one to judge! I loved all the textures in this dish. Especially that cornflake crunch!
At the end of our tasting, we were treated to a special cake made by Cordy’s Cakes. Titled “Sail in the Storm”, this masterpiece was a black sesame cake with caramelised white chocolate mousse and black sesame buttercream. I can’t even imagine the hours it would take to create this cake! So many beautiful details!
I thoroughly enjoyed this food blogger event. Great food, service and company! It was great to meet the face/s behind some of Sydney’s most popular food blogs and Instagram accounts!
