Rest & Relaxation in hectic Makati

Makati is one busy place! The financial centre of Manila, you’ll find major corporations, banks, embassies, schools, restaurants, bars, major shopping centres and of course, traffic! :) I love it all! I spend a lot of time in Makati when visiting The Philippines and have loads of great memories.

However, when I need a timeout from all the chaos, there is only one place I go for a little R&R. That place is The Spa. Yes, my Makati spa is called The Spa!

Located in Greenbelt 1, near the drop-off entrance on Paseo de Roxas, lies my little piece of Makati heaven.

I usually book in for a massage and a facial, however the spa menu is very extensive! If you have the time and money, you could easily stay the whole day! 😉

Once you have checked-in by completing the spa questionnaire (personal details, health information, massage preference, allergies, etc) and paid for your treatments, you are guided upstairs to the change area.

The day spa is luxe…as every day spa should be! Beautiful wooden finishes, plush lounges, mood lighting…there’s nothing common about this place. Upstairs, you’ll get a locker, robe, slippers, towels and access to the shared vanity area, sauna, showers and lounge area.

Once changed and ready to be pampered, have a seat on the lounge with a cup of hot tea and wait for your therapist to collect you. Bliss awaits!

I have visited The Spa a couple of times now, so here’s a few of my tips for when you go.

Make a booking. I have found that calling them is better than booking via email.

Arrive 30 minutes before your booked time. This will give you enough time to complete spa check-in, get changed and enjoy the facilities.

Deluxe vs Executive. Deluxe means your treatment is performed in a shared room with other people. Executive means your treatment is performed in your own private room. Both options provide shared access to the sauna, individual showers and the vanity and lounge areas.

Service charge. Your payment on spa check-in includes the service charge. Check out this article for more information on service charges and tipping in Manila.

Men and women. There are separate treatment areas for men and women. I am unsure what happens for couple treatments. You will have to contact The Spa directly to answer that one.

Lockers. The lockers are quite narrow and just large enough to hold your clothes, a handbag and maybe a shopping bag. I would not suggest bringing anything too bulky.

Toiletries. Everything is covered. There’s no need to bring shampoo, soap, lotions, etc.

Pool and gym. There is no pool or gym onsite.

Drink the tea. It’s delicious!

Above all, enjoy! It’s definitely one of my favourite spas in the world!
